Tower Inspections
Unmanned aircraft for cell, radio and water tower inspections provides a safe, fast and cost-efficient alternative to conventional approaches.
We capture high-resolution images (20-48 megapixels or greater), add ground control points, utilize real-time kinetic (RTK) and post-processing kinetic (PPK) correction streams delivering centimeter level accuracy. We then leverage advanced software to construct 3D “digital twins” to inspect potential issues such as corrosion, structural fatigue, or environmental damage without the cost and risk of sending climbers.
We concentrate on three primary variables.
Hardware (UAS/Camera/Sensor)
Asset Specific Flight Pattern
Photogrammetry Software
Tower Orbits Sequence
5-8 ft above the tower
Perform an orbit every 5-8 ft. towards the ground
Continue down to the ground equipment
5-8 ft. distance from the structure
Camera tilt -45deg
Picture frequency
Overlap 80%
Every 1 to 2 seconds take a photo
The variety of structures from poles to guyed towers creates an additional layer of complexity and challenge when collecting data and processing accurate models.
